Kearis Jackson breaks silence, tells all he's a Bulldog

Kearis Jackson had family, friends and media at his grandmother's home Saturday afternoon where he announced he is a Georgia Bulldog.

It came down to Alabama and Georgia for the 6-foot, 191 pound wide receiver out of Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County, but in the end, the home-state school won out.

Jackson just shared the news publicly, but he let Kirby Smart and the Bulldog coaches know months ago.

"I really made my decision back in the spring," said Jackson. "I let coach Smart know that I was committed back then, but I just had to take more time and take more visits before I was ready to tell everyone about it.

"I have known I wanted to go to Georgia for a while and now was a good time to tell everyone."

Georgia picked up a commitment from wide receiver Elijah Moore Tuesday night. The Dawgs may only take two at that position in this class and Jackson has always known he was a priority for the Bulldogs.

"The Georgia coaches have always recruited me hard. They let me know about Elijah as soon as he told them he was committed and they made sure I knew that they still wanted me.

"Coach [James] Coley recruited me, I would talk to coach [Jim] Chaney] sometimes and Kirby Smart has always been involved too. We would text, talk on the phone, face-time and be in contact all of the time.

"Georgia has always made me feel important."

The feeling he had in Athens (Ga.) may have been what pushed Georgia over the top for Jackson. He has visited Georgia much more than any other school and he could not feel more comfortable there.

"It is not just the coaches, but the players and everyone there makes me feel at home," said Jackson. "My family feels good there, I feel good there and it is like another home for me.

"The players have been treating me like I am one of them for a while now. I know a lot of people there, I am good friends with some of the players and that really helped Georgia."

Now that Jackson is committed, he feels good and he is ready to do some recruiting to help build something special between the hedges.

"I am going after Trey Hill, Justin Fields and so many other top guys," said Jackson. "I have already been talking to guys about Georgia, so they know I am coming to get them.

"I'm very excited to know that I'm committed to a great football program and we are working on building national championship."
