June 13, 2007Some local Georgia Bulldog fans are looking out for their own as the clock ticks down on the Michael Lemon fund. Donations have been below expectations so far and a couple of caring people who have their own charitable organization are teaming up to throw an emergency fundraising event for Lemon before the June 30 deadline for donations passes.
The NCAA allowed the University of Georgia Athletic Association to receive donations for Lemon following the tragic murder of his mother this past winter which left Lemon to care for his 15-year old brother
On June 23 The Grace Shearon Foundation, a 501 ? (3) non profit is having an emergency fundraiser for the Lemon Fund as well as their G.R.A.C.E. Fund at the University of Georgia Veterinary Hospital. Fifty percent of the donations will go to the Lemon Fund and the other half will go to the G.R.A.C.E. fund.
The G.R.A.C.E. fund provides money for low income individuals and families to care for their pets as well as providing money for animal rescue shelters and similar organizations in the local area.
The organizers are looking for volunteers to work two-hour shifts from 9 to 6 in Oconee County at major intersections to collect money in buckets. They are also looking for bottled water and light snacks for the volunteers. The group is also looking for a graphic artist to design a logo as well as any sponsors that would like to help with the buckets.
The organization can accept checks with Lemon/Grace in the designation area as well as Visa or Master Card.
If you or your organization would like to help the Lemon family and the Grace Shearon Foundation please email Dr. Flynn Nance at 770-483-7225 or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
