January 31, 2012A hot start to the second half propelled Arkansas to an 82-74 victory over No. 25 Vanderbilt on Tuesday night, as the Razorbacks hit 9-of-23 3-pointers and got a personal Southeastern Conference season-high 18 points from Rickey Scott, and 17 from Julysses Nobles.
Eighteen points from Jeffery Taylor and 19 from John Jenkins were enough to keep the Commodores within six with just under a minute left after trailing by 14 with just over five minutes to play.
But Arkansas out-rebounded VU 32-28 and committed just eight turnovers, two of the minor edges on the stat sheet that helped add up to UA's eight-point victory.
Vandy fell behind Arkansas by seven in the first half, but rallied back to take a 34-32 halftime lead behind 10 points from Ezeli. Vandy shot 52 percent in the first half compared to Arkansas' 38, but seven VU turnovers and an 18-15 rebounding defcit kept the Razorbacks close.
The Razorbacks improved to 16-0 at home, while VU dropped to 16-6 overall and 5-2 in SEC play.
