Klemm reacts to coaching decision
Offensive tackle Nick Klemm has been a relatively recent addition to Boston College's recruiting class and he was taken aback by the events leading to the dismissal of head coach Jeff Jagodzinski, as were many others. After receiving word of who BC's next head coach would be Klemm gave his reaction.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle had been excited to suit up under the leadership of Jagodzinski, but he wasn't the main factor in Klemm's decision. Klemm was drawn to BC's tradition of producing good offensive linemen, and that's a tradition that has been bigger than one coaching staff.
What does he think of the decision to promote longtime defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani to head coach?
"I was hoping they signed a guy internally so I'm very happy Spaz got the job," Klemm said.
"They didn't really keep in touch with me throughout this but I was following it. I just hope they're going to keep all of the same people there. I'm glad to see what's happened so far."
Klemm said most schools backed off after he made his decision less than a month ago, but after the initial news of Jagodzinski's departure a couple of them tried to get back into the mix.
"The schools did back off after I committed," he said. "After (the firing) they started to contact me again. I was thinking about it but didn't set up any visits. I was really just waiting to see what BC was going to do.
"I'm 100-percent solid to BC. Even a little before that I had Purdue and Syracuse trying to get back into everything."
Klemm said he had previously met Spaziani but has not spoken to him since he was named head coach recently.
