Four-star Thames taking visits
Over the month of December, four-star athlete Dennis Thames from Louisville, Miss has entertained three coaches from three different programs.
Now for the month of January it will be time for Thames to do the traveling. Thames will visit Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Michigan over the next three weeks before deciding on his college choice.
"Over the last month I have had a couple meetings with the head coach at Mississippi State, the head coach at Southern Miss and also Michigan came down (Wednesday)," Thames said. "I've got a couple of visits coming up. First I am going down to Southern Miss (Jan. 9) then I am going to Mississippi State on the 16th then I am going to go to Michigan the week after that. I'm just trying to get out there and see what it is."
Thames busy month of December began in helping the Wildcats repeat their 3A State Championship with a thrilling 26-21 win over Tylertown to finish 12-3 this season.
"It was awesome," Thames said. "We won two back-to-back and that's a dream come true. Everybody isn't able to win a state championship but I won two. Coach (Brad) Peterson and the guys I won state with last year, I still talk to those guys. It's just something special around Louisville about winning state championships. I think the town is very happy that we won state."
Thames played running back, wide receiver and linebacker for the Wildcats but missed several games with a knee injury. The talented 5-foot-11 and 183-pounder rushed 97 times for 677 yards and eight touchdowns and also grabbed 35 receptions for 532 yards and eight more scores. Defensively, Thames made 65 tackles and had two interceptions.
After the season, Thames was selected to represent the state in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic in Mobile, Ala.
