Media day notes: Where's Will Franklin?
Gary Pinkel did make one concession in the wake of Pig Brown's injury. He is allowing the safety to travel with the team. This is a reversal from three weeks ago when injured tailback Tony Temple was left behind as the team traveled to Oklahoma.
"This is called a new rule Coach Pinkel came up with," Pinkel said. "I knew you were going to ask about it, so I knew I had to come up with a new rule. He's a senior starter that gets hurt permanently for the season, he can't play, I have the option to travel him. It might go down as the Pig rule."
It was a rule the players liked.
"He didn't even talk to us about it," Williams said. "We were going to talk to him about it at the senior meeting. He beat us to it. Definitely happy that he made that exception for Pig. He's a captain, he's a leader, he's got to be part of this team every step of the way. He's part of the reason why we're here."
Williams said Brown had called him three times from the hospital with tips he had picked up watching film of Colorado.
