Receiver takes blame for close loss
Shay Hodge stood inside the Alabama five-yard line with under 10 seconds left in the game. He'd just made the play of his young career.
Hodge jumped up in the air, ripped the ball out of Alabama cornerback Lionel Mitchell's hands. He popped off the turf at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, and with cheers raining down from most of the 59,791 in attendance, Hodge deliberately nodded his head and pointed to the Ole Miss sidelines.
"I jumped for the ball. I saw the ball, and I saw him grab it," Hodge said. "I knew I couldn't let him get the interception, and I just snatched it."
Ole Miss was now in position to win. He saved the day, and maybe, the season.
