It was a fierce battle between Auburn and home-state Arkansas for Burns, but in the end, the top QB said it was an easy decision to choose the Tigers. AuburnSports.com spoke with Burns about his recruitment, his plans once he gets on the Plains and more in the second of our profile stories of the 2007 Tiger signees.
On his workout regime: I'm doing the Auburn workout that they sent me. I'm also running track doing the triple jump, the long jump and the 400-meter relay. Besides that, I'm throwing the ball twice a week, and I'll pick it up the last month (before reporting to AU) and throw about every day.
You're at 200 now. How much do you want to weigh when you report to Auburn? Sooner or later, I want to gain about 10-15 pounds, but I know it takes a while. I'd like to eventually be around 215-220, but I'm comfortable where I am now.
When do you plan to move to Auburn? I'm going to be there June 10. I'm going to be in the Bridge Program and take a class in the summer. We have to stay in the dorm during the summer, but in the fall my roommate is going to be Josh Bynes.
What did you think of the 2007 signing class? I thought we had a lot of good players.
Do you talk to any of your fellow signees? I've talked to all of the linemen. I've talked to most everybody else. Everybody is cool and already forming a bond. We're just ready to get down there and start working.
What was the most memorable part of the recruiting process for you? Probably when I decided on AU. It was pretty hectic there for a while. I was going back-and-forth between both schools (Auburn and Arkansas), and when I found out in my heart that I was going to AU, I just felt my whole life change. That would probably be my highlight.
