Arizona DE to visit Michigan State
With 15 commitments in a class that could only number 17 or 18; the Michigan Spartans do not have a lot of space left for the class of 2012. With that said, one player they are actively recruiting is 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end prospect Kisima Jagne of Chandler High School in Arizona. Spartanmag.com has the latest details on his recruitment.
Arizona is not a regular stop on the Michigan State recruiting trail, but in this case the staff feels believes it is well worth it. Michigan State has been very active in recruiting Jagne and views him as a player that can continue the recent impressive run of bringing in outstanding pass rushers.
Michigan State offered Jagne earlier this year and they are just one of the heavyweight BCS programs that are after him. In addition to the Spartans, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Arizona State Sun Devils and Purdue Boilermakers are all involved. Jagne has double-digit scholarship offers and rivals.com rates him the #27 player in the nation at his position.
SpartanMag.com asked Jagne about his contact with the Michigan State Spartans.
"I have spoken with the head Coach (Mark Dantonio) and the assistant coach (Mark Staten) every week, Jagne said. I like the school and the team. I like how they are a big family and the play hard every game."
The Spartans want to add another dynamic defensive end to the class of 2012 to team with Rivals100 prospect Se'Von Pittman. They have evaluated players from coast to coast and the recruits they have focused in on are Adolphus Washington of Ohio and Jagne. The staff obviously believes that either one of these players would be an outstanding fit for the 1 scholarship spot they have left for a defensive end.
Jagne talked about what the Michigan State staff likes about him and his future plans as far as visits.
"They like how I am very fast and I can use my speed or my bull rush to get around offensive linemen," he stated. "I am coming up to Michigan State after my playoffs."
Jagne is one of several talented players on the Chandler High School team. Right now the team is 7-3 and preparing for their first round playoff game this Friday night against Avondale Westview High School. Jagne and his teammates are hoping to get a shot at arch rival Hamilton High School down the line. Hamilton is ranked #1 in the state and edged Chandler by a score of 28-21 earlier this season.
As far as when his official visit to Michigan State will take place, look for the weekend of December 2nd or December 9th to be targeted. Not only will Jagne be done his season by then, but the Spartan staff will be going through bowl practices and plans on having numerous committed prospects on campus those weekends as well.
SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow-up with Jagne in the coming weeks. As you can see by his film, he has the type of explosiveness off the edge that the staff is looking for. Jagne is a player with unlimited upside the only question is whether he will play in the Pac 12, Big 12 or Big Ten.
