Tide pursuing Bayou back
Baton Rouge (LA) Redemptorist held their spring scrimmage on Wednesday night and after just two quarters, star running back Jeremy Hill had piled up over 100 yards. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound back was a very early commit to LSU back in September of 2009 but other schools around the country have continued to pursue the jumbo playmaker.
"The LSU coaches have told me they are OK with me taking other visits in the fall so I feel like I want to take advantage of that opportunity.," Hill said. "I'm not actually going out there and looking for other schools but when someone talks to me, I'm going to listen."
With no running backs yet committed to its 2011 class, the Alabama Crimson Tide have made Hill a priority on the recruiting trail.
"Out of all the schools that are still recruiting me, I definitely hear the most from Coach (Burton) Burns at Alabama. Florida State, Miami and USC still talk to me a lot too but Alabama has really never let up on me."
"They really like my running style and my build and they said they think they would want to play me early on. They like to use two or three backs pretty much in every game so I'd have a lot of opportunity to play there right away."
Hill said that while he isn't too familiar with the inner workings of the Crimson Tide program, he plans to learn more later this year.
"I went to Alabama for their Junior Day and everything I saw was really impressive. I would still really like to get a chance to see how everything works during the season as far as watching the coaches and players work and prepare for a game. I won't be able to take any visits this summer but I plan on taking an official visit to Alabama in December once my season is over so hopefully I can watch them get ready for a bowl game."
The Tide's latest commitment, Port Sulpher (LA) wide receiver Bradley Sylve, has had a number of opportunities to meet Hill and made a strong impression on his fellow Louisiana native.
"I've run into Bradley many times at football camps and at track meets too. He was pretty much always at LSU at the same time as me and I know LSU was really recruiting him hard. He's a really impressive athlete."
