Hillgrove safety enjoys GT visit
One of the top safeties in the state of Georgia visited Georgia Tech for the North Carolina game two weeks ago. Hillgrove safety Kadetrix Marcus is leading a young defense that has allowed only nine points a game this season and has the Hawks off to a 5-0 start.
Marcus is one of several players the Jackets' staff appears to be targeting for 2011 from Hillgrove. Georgia already landed Marcus' teammate, quarterback Synjyn Days for the 2010 class and Days' younger brother Jabari Hunt-Days and Marcus are 2011 targets for the Jackets.
"I really enjoyed the game and the crowd at the Georgia Tech game," Marcus said. "Synjyn wants all of us to go to Georgia Tech. I really like the program and the way their safeties play."
The six-foot 175-pound safety is looking at several schools both locally and nationally as his recruitment starts to heat up. Marcus already has a return trip to Georgia Tech lined up.
"Georgia Tech, UCLA and South Carolina are my top teams right now that I am interested in," Marcus said. "Hopefully I will get a chance to visit South Carolina and Georgia. I am going back to Georgia Tech to see them play Virginia Tech."
Marcus says he is a playmaker in the secondary and he hopes to have a variety of schools to choose from next year as more programs learn about his skills in the secondary.
"I liked making plays and hitting," Marcus said. "I am getting mail from a lot of schools now, but I liked Georgia Tech a lot. Hopefully after the season I will get to see some other schools."
The Hawks travel to down the road to Osborne High School in Marietta on Friday in another Region 7B-AAAA showdown.
