Lowery jumps on board
Cincinnati native B.J. Lowery only made one official visit this fall with a trip to Iowa City a couple of weeks ago, but the cornerback decided that was all he needed to see. This week, the versatile 5-foot-11, 175-pounder made the call and verbally committed to the Hawkeyes.
Lowery made his official visit to Iowa the first week of September, which is when the Hawkeyes extended a scholarship offer shortly after winning their season opener. Lowery, who also had an offer from Akron and recent interest from Michigan, fills a big need for the Hawkeyes at cornerback in the 2010 recruiting class. According to his coach at Cincinnati Hughes, Dennis Doppes, it is a position that suits him well.
"I've been doing this for thirty years and he's one of the best I've ever seen," said Doppes. "He's a remarkable athlete and a guy that can be a true cover corner."
