Virges impressed with MSU opener
Three-star defensive tackle Curtis Virges got a chance Saturday to see his future teammates play firsthand.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder watched the Mississippi State first and second string defensive front smother the Jackson State offense only allowing two first downs and -15 yards rushing in the first half.
"I liked their defensive line," Virges said. "I like the fact that (Jackson State) wasn't really moving the defense at all. That's the kind of defense I want to be on like a stone wall. Josh Boyd and Fletcher Cox, those boys showed out. I like those two and they really caught my attention."
Virges has been to the Starkville many times previously but this visit was a new experience.
"This summer when I committed they told me to expect it to be different," Virges said. "Now when I went over there I was talking to some of the boys I know and I already felt like I was on the team. It felt really great. I was in the locker room after the game because they let all the top prospects in. It felt pretty good being in there. I was ready to strap up."
Virges and his West Point teammates got back on track last week evening their record to 1-1 on the season with a 24-6 win over Columbus. Virges made 12 tackles including 3.5 stops for loss in the contest.
