Dorsey focused on season
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defensive end Wayne Dorsey has not been concentrating very much on recruiting of late and who can blame him?
The 6-foot-8, 255-pounder has his focus set on helping the No. 2 nationally ranked Bulldogs win their third consecutive MACJC State Championship and second national title in three years.
"I'm right in the middle of camp and I'm really focusing on that," Dorsey said. "When I was home I was really focusing on school and getting my classes down. I really haven't been into recruiting. I've been talking with different coaches but I haven't really been worrying about recruiting. I feel like it will handle itself when it needs to. Recruiting is number three on my priority list right now behind school and the team."
Dorsey was recently named preseason second team All-American and has scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Iowa State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, South Florida, Southern Miss and Tennessee. He also picked up offers from North Carolina and Tulsa over the summer.
Dorsey insists that he does not have any favorites but indicated that he could narrow his choices down some when camp concludes.
One school that stands a good chance at making the cut is Mississippi State. The Bulldogs currently have two former Gulf Coast All-Americans on their roster in linebacker Chris White and kicker Sean Brachule.
"I still like Mississippi State," Dorsey said. "I'm still interested in them. I see myself fitting in there maybe if I was to go there. Chris White and Sean are up there and those would be two familiar faces to help my transition out. I still feel the same about them because I haven't been paying attention to any schools or recruiting to be honest."
Dorsey stated that he has not talked to either White or Brachule over the summer but did speak with them before he left headed home to Baltimore at the conclusion of the spring semester.
