After months and months of speculation concerning a scholarship offer, Notre Dame finally pulled the trigger during 6-foot-2, 300-pound Beau Allen's "tryout" with the Irish this week. Now the Irish will battle with several Midwestern schools and perhaps even a West Coast school or two as they seek a solution to the dwindling defensive tackle pool.
