Wisconsin DL picks Iowa
After recently naming Iowa as his favorite, Wisconsin defensive lineman Mike Hardy made another visit today to get an even more in-depth look at the Hawkeyes. By the time he left Iowa City, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Hardy decided that he had seen enough and had found the place where he wanted to play college football.
Hardy picked the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana, and Iowa State. One thing that won it out for Iowa was his relationship with the coaching staff, including Kirk Ferentz as well as Chris Doyle, who heads the strength and conditioning program, which is a field the high school senior plans to get into down the road.
Hardy, who won a state championship in the discus this spring, looks forward to focusing on his senior year now that his decision is out of the way. This fall, he will be trying to lead Kimberly High School to its third consecutive state title in Division II.
