Sense of urgency for senior tailback
Ben Tate remembers how the 2008 disappointment felt.
He doesn't want to have that feeling again during his senior year.
That, the tailback said, has led to a new attitude in the Auburn locker room this spring.
"It's more of a sense of urgency," Tate said. "We all talked about missing a bowl game and how we don't want to go through that again. It just didn't feel right going home and being home for that long. That's something that nobody wants to do again.
"That's something that coaches are also stressing. They're not letting us forget that we went 5-7 and didn't make a bowl game."
So far that new burst has translated into results for Tate.
Kodi Burns said Tate busted some zone-read plays for 15-plus yard gains on Saturday.
He apparently played just as well on Sunday, drawing praise from offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
