Hogan setting his schedule
Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph's junior running back Kamal Hogan is still waiting for his first offer and has not yet earned the same level of praise that some other prospects at his position have.
Despite that, the 5-foot-11, 196-pound prospect is one to keep an eye on.
Hogan has not yet sent his highlight tape out to schools and that's one of the reasons things have been a bit slow thus far. He's convinced that when he has the opportunity to showcase his skills, schools will be impressed.
Recently he has been receiving mail from a host of schools, such as UCLA, Georgia, Virginia, Nebraska, Pitt, Penn State, Maryland and Tennessee.
What does the future hold for Hogan?
"I think I'm going to a camp at Georgia later, and I think I might visit Purdue and Pitt. I also might visit Virginia at some point," he said.
"I haven't been anywhere yet. Those are going to be my first trips. I've been in touch with Pitt through e-mail. I've been talking to Kevin Adams, too. He's supposed to be going to Pitt and he's basically telling me to go check it out.
"Pitt is looking for a bigger running back for next year and it could be me. He told me to send them my highlight tape. I'm getting that done now. I should have it done by this weekend."
Hogan said his five favorites right now are Georgia, UCLA, Virginia, Pitt and Rutgers.
Have any schools told him what he needs to do to earn offers?
"Rutgers and Pitt want me to go camp there first," he said. "I was supposed to go out to UCLA for an unofficial but a lady said I should just wait for my senior year and send my highlight tape. I might get offered just by sending them that, so there would be no need to go all the way out there.
"Georgia wants me to go to their camp, but it might be the same thing as with UCLA. I might just send my film and hopefully they'll offer just based on that."
As a junior Hogan had 78 carries for 711 yards and eight touchdowns.
