Everette Brown still remembers the tears and smile splashed across the face of his mother, Jenai Brown, when he graduated from North Carolina's Beddingfield High School four years ago.
He couldn't even imagine how proud she and his other family members would be Saturday morning, when he took part in Florida State's commencement exercises at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. After just 3 ½ years of college, Brown earned his bachelor's degree in sociology.
"That's who it was for -- it was for my mom," Brown said. "She's been pushing me, specifically about my education, for as long as I can remember. All my life. She knew I was a great athlete and that I wanted to continue to play sports. But she said, 'You won't be doing anything if you don't get your grades.' That's all I remember.
