Auburn goes under the lights
Bryan Matthews
AuburnSports.com Auburn was in the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium Wednesday night as they broke their normal practice routine to bring a more game-like atmosphere for the off-week.
"It's a little change of atmosphere and we can use the 40-second clock," AU head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "It's less room but it gives you more of a game sensation.
"Nice cool afternoon. We
worked on fundamentals and the kicking game for about an hour and a half."
Auburn will conclude the off-week with a practice Thursday morning and a walk-through Friday before getting most of the weekend off.
Game-week preparations for Alabama will officially begin Sunday afternoon.
AU has used the off-week to get a few more players healthier and get back to fundamentals. One of the players sitting out this week is Wes Byrum, who is nursing a knee injury.
Morgan Hull is expected to take his place as the starting kicker against Alabama.
"(Hull) does a good job," Tuberville said. "He (lacks) game experience, doing it in front of a crowd."
While AU begins its preparations for the annual Iron Bowl this week, it's also a big week for recruiting. The AU assistants are scheduled to go out for the final time in the fall evaluation period, which lasts from Sept. 1 through Nov. 29.
