Competition tight at running back
Auburn limped through spring at the running back position but with fall practice set to begin in just 10 days, the Tigers' tailbacks are healthy and primed for a spirited competition.
"Spring ball was kind of tough because we had guys injured," said AU running backs coach Eddie Gran. They've had a good summer and they're healthy. If we can keep them healthy through fall camp, I think we've got a chance to have a solid group."
Gran will enter fall camp with senior Brad Lester and junior Ben Tate as the co-starters.
"They've both had the experience and proven they could play at this level," said Gran. "If one gets a hot hand, one might get more carries but I think when it's all said and done, it will be about equal.
"If one does come out and shows he's the man, then he'll be the man."
Right behind the duo will be senior Tristan Davis, who appears to finally be healthy after missing all but three games last year.
