The final word is in for Dowtin
2008 Georgia signee Marcus Dowtin expected to be on campus right now working out with the team, but he received some surprising news just days before he was set to move to Athens. We are now approaching the second summer semester and the final word is in. When or if will he be at UGA? Find out inside.
"It is all finalized now and Marcus will be moving to Georgia July 1," says his father Dwayne Dowtin.
Mr. Dowtin informed us June 1 (story HERE) that his son would not be able to enroll at Georgia at the time most of the signees did. He was expected to arrive on the first day of June, but an issue with the transcripts came up.
"His transcripts had a couple of his classes recorded wrong from those schools, so we had to call each one and get it fixed. We got on it right away and it is squared away now, but we missed the window to get him in for the June semester."
Now, it seems all the news is good news for the Dowtin family. They have gotten word from Georgia that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker out of Fork Union (Va.) is all set.
"The Georgia coaches will be picking him up at the airport on July 1 and getting him over to Athens. He will be able to start working out with the team right away and he is ready."
"Marcus has been training very aggressively over the last month getting ready for Georgia. He has been doing what they asked him to do, so he is ready to get down there with the team."
Things do not go exactly how Dowtin would have liked them to, but he is putting all of that in the past and moving forward as a Georgia Bulldog.
"Marcus is very excited about being a Bulldog," stated a happy Mr. Dowtin, "he can't wait to get there."
"He will be there July 1, and get started with school in the July semester. It was frustrating the way we had to wait, but that is all behind us now. We are very excited about him getting there soon."
