Four-star defensive tackle John Drew of Columbus (Ga.) Northside de-committed from Georgia Tech at the beginning of the week. Three days later, he offered his verbal pledge to David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils while on a visit for a one-day camp held on Saturday.

The commitment, which came on Friday night during a meeting with Cutcliffe, surprised both the Blue Devils head coach and Drew's recruiting contact, associate head coach Ron Middleton.
