Kohout lays the foundation for 2009
Just two weeks removed from National Signing Day, the Wisconsin Badger coaching staff received a verbal commitment from in-state prospect Jordan Kohout after he attended UW's Junior Day this past weekend.
"Yes, sir," Kohout told BadgerBlitz.com Sunday morning. "I committed to Wisconsin yesterday."
Kohout, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound lineman from Waupun become the first commitment in Wisconsin's 2009 class.
"After the basketball game we went back to Camp Randall and split up into our positions," Kohout said. "We sat with out position coaches. I sat with Coach (Charlie) Partridge and he told me to hang around after everyone had left.
"We hung around because Coach (Bret) Bielema wanted to see us. I then went into Coach Bielema's office and we just chatted for a little bit. He said he really liked my junior film and that they had a scholarship offer waiting for me. I'm really pumped. I'm so happy to finally be a Badger. This is it, my recruitment is over; I'm a Badger."
Kohout received serious interest from Illinois and Iowa, but will now focus on attracting other recruits to his future college program.
"I got the chance to talk with D.J. Fuller a little bit while we were eating lunch. Later on in the day I hung with Tyler Dippel and talked with him a little bit." Kohout said. "I might do some recruiting myself, we'll see how that goes. It's really the other guy's decision to choose a school, if they want to go somewhere it's their decision. I'll tell them why I like Wisconsin, but I'm not going to feed it down their throat."
BadgerBlitz.com also learned Sunday morning that Shelby Harris, another 2009 prospect committed to Wisconsin this weekend. His story will be up shortly.
