BOL Notebook: Slimmed-down Walker
Nick Walker will definitely look different to Alabama fans sitting in the high-priced seats at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday. The tight end from Brundidge, Ala., may even look different from the upper deck.
Dropping 40 pounds will do that.
"I dropped 40," Walker said. "I was 280 last year, I was almost 290. I carried it good.
But with a new coach coming in and all the running, it just fell off."
Walker said coach Nick Saban's Fourth-Quarter Program, the offseason conditioning regimen, allowed him to drop all that weight without any change to his eating habits. Asked if he had to buy new clothes, Walker said some new shirts were necessary, but a tighter belt was all that was needed to keep his old pants.
And what about a new belt?
"Nah," Walker joked. "You just stick an extra hole in there."
