Gbadyu talks position switch
Nittany Lion outside linebacker Bani Gbadyu was not a big draw for reporters at media day on Saturday, as many writers flocked to older linebackers like Dan Connor and Sean Lee, but the softspoken Gbadyu was more than willing to open up when anyone with a recorder came his way.
The redshirt freshman switched positions during the first week of practice, and is now adjusting to playing in more open space at the "Sam" linebacker position.
"Right now they've just moved my position to the "Sam" linebacker," said Gbadyu. "I've just been rotating in and learning the position. Right now, I'm sitting behind Josh Hull, and I've got some off the field issues, and until I get them sorted out it's going to hold me back."
Gbadyu has found himself in Joe Paterno's infamous "doghouse" for some minor off the field issues, but he does not foresee the issues being a problem. He said that habitual lateness problems have the 80-year old head coach frustrated.
"It's not going to hold me out through the season," said Gbadyu.
