Healthy Vance ready to compete
When spring practice began, offensive line coach Stacy Searels had high expectations from JUCO transfer Vince Vance as a left tackle. A week into spring camp, Vance injured the PCL in his knee and had to shut it down for a couple of weeks. During that time, true freshman Trinton Sturdivant emerged as a real contender for the starting job.
Now that Vance is healthy, he wants to wrestle that starting spot away from Sturdivant and live up to coach Searels expectations.
"My knee is fine now. It feels really good to be healthy after my injury," said Vance. "I am not here to sit on the bench. You have to compete to play and I will."
