Busy summer for Staggs
One of the quickest ways a recruit can impress schools is a busy summer camp schedule. Oskaloosa (IA) Senior athlete Stephen Staggs has done just that. Camps all around the Midwest have left the talented Staggs with a good feeling about where recruiting may be headed.
The 6-foot-2 Staggs said he has no more plans for camps this summer, but will be trying to visit each of the schools he camped with. In the mean time, Staggs said, he has been spending a lot of his time on the phone with college coaches.
Recently, Staggs was named the number seven prospect in the state of Iowa. Staggs said he was happy to be on the list, but didn't want that to be where he was at the end of the season.
Staggs said he has been talking about offers with the different schools. Although, to date, his only offer is from Army, Staggs said that he is hoping a productive start to his senior season will increase his offer sheet.
Staggs said he thinks many of the schools have taken notice because of his ability to play many positions. While he does have a favorite position, he doesn't have a problem playing wherever he's needed.
While he has spent much of the summer working out and talking with many of the teams in the Big 12 north, Staggs admitted that one school had caught his eye. He said he hoped to visit soon and learn more about them.
With most of the Big 12 north taking interest, Staggs believes he'll have several schools to choose from this fall. For now, Staggs admitted, he's content to take his time on his decision.
