Duke scored a big recruiting victory early in the recruiting process when Fayetteville (Ga.) safety Matt Daniels verbally committed to the Blue Devils.

As is the case with any recruit though, the battle isn't over with just a verbal commitment.

The home state Georgia Bulldogs offered Daniels a scholarship earlier this week, and when word spread of that on Tuesday night, it looked like there might be some reason for Duke fans to be concerned.

But a Wednesday follow up with Daniels painted a more reassuring picture for Blue Devil fans.

"I'm still holding strong [with Duke]," Daniels said after expressing some regret over how he had worded some statements to media about the Georgia offer.
