The name Jermie Calhoun has been a lightning rod for discussion among Longhorn fans. The overwhelming choice for the state's top running back for 2008 and a likely five-star prospect, Calhoun has been racking up the offers in recent weeks. Texas had yet to join the party, but Calhoun was slated to head to Austin on Saturday for a Longhorn junior day.
Would the playmaker from Van get an offer during that visit? Or was Texas simply going to look at other options? Those were the big questions with the junior day rapidly approaching, and the Longhorn fan base was on the edge of its collective seat waiting for the answer.
It turns out, they don't need to wait until Saturday after all.
Calhoun reported on Monday night that Texas informed him they are not recruiting him, and this weekend's visit to Austin has been called off.
