Academics, coaches led Fischer to Vandy
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.-Last week, the Vanderbilt Commodores dipped into South Carolina and got a commitment from offensive lineman on the rise Kyle Fischer of Columbia Spring Valley.
After one of the final practices for the South Carolina North-South All-Star game this week, the 6-foot-5, 288-pounder gave a short interview to Rivals.com about his decision to pick the Commodores and his week of practice, which included squaring off against five-star defensive end Carlos Dunlap.
Fischer committed to Vanderbilt on his official visit to Nashville, which took place the weekend of Dec. 1.
"I just felt I needed to commit," Fischer said. "When I took my official visit there, they showed me a lot of things, but the thing that stood out the most was the education there and how the coaches have a great connection with their players."
