Dawgs OL may be thin for Kentucky
Kelly Quinlan
UGASports.com The Georgia offensive line took another hit this week as junior guard Chester Adams missed practice Wednesday after re-aggravating his ankle sprain Tuesday in practice.
Adams re-injured his ankle against Florida Saturday when he took a blow to the ankle in the game and after practice Tuesday it flared up again. Georgia head coach Mark Richt thinks Adams is now doubtful for the Kentucky game this week.
"Right now Chester Adams' ankle got tweaked and I am not sure if he will even make the trip," said Richt of Adam's status for Saturday. "Michael Turner will go in his place if that is the case."
The injury to Adams in another blow to the embattled offensive line that lost junior guard Zeb McKinzey for the season with a shoulder injury in fall camp, has battled through suspensions to Daniel Inman and Ian Smith in the first two games of the season, and worked through injuries to Michael Turner and Adams.
"They are tired and beat up because of our lack of depth. They have taken so many reps in practice. When you have two lines that can roll, you take some pressure off of these guys and quite frankly we have been mixing and matching and not really rolling two units," said Richt regarding the lack of depth. "It has been wearing them down and there is no doubt about it."
