Fitzhugh leaning on seniors for support
Playing primarily on special team as a freshman, Keith Fitzhugh earned the starting strong safety spot during the spring. He was one of two new starters from the Bulldog defense a year ago. The Bulldogs face a team this week that favors a West Virginia team that the Bulldogs played close until the end of the fourth quarter.
"Jacksonville State runs a similar offense to West Virginia; they run it 75 percent of the time. They do not throw that much. The speed will be a little different from that of West Virginia. They are ranked high in their particular division and we cannot underestimate these guys," Fitzhugh explained.
Fitzhugh is still learning the position of strong safety, but is understanding his assignment better and better each day.
"I have not played my best yet. I have started six games, but I am still learning from the veteran guys. It is a lot different from last year. It is a lot more pressure, and it is a lot you have to grasp playing safety. Safety is like playing quarterback on defense.
