Tide lands four-star DL
Prattville athlete Nick Gentry picked up over 20 offers during the May evaluation period, with most of them being of the written variety. In the last month or so Gentry, 6-foot-1, 272 pounds, has stayed out of the limelight and avoided the media in order to get set for his senior season -- but that ended Sunday when news broke that he had committed to Alabama.
"Nick made his decision on Friday and told the Alabama staff on Saturday that he wanted to play for them," Prattville head coach Bill Clark said. "He had a lot of great offers and we only considered the ones that had sent written offers, but Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee were just some of them. But I think he felt Alabama was the best fit for him on and off the field.
"He had been up there a few times this year and he felt comfortable with the coaching staff. I think it's a good fit for him because of the style Alabama plays and he has every chance to step in and play."
