Big d-tackle is Auburn's 12th commitment
Auburn continued its unprecedented early run of commitments Tuesday when Hoover, Ala., defensive tackle Josh Chapman became the 12th verbal commitment for the class of 2007.
"I just made a commitment to the Auburn Tigers," said Chapman. "I weighed the pros and the cons of Auburn and Alabama. I chose Auburn because I can play early and they play the same defense I play at Hoover. It's a chance to be around great people and coaches.
"I believe Auburn has something special going on down there and I want to be a part of winning a National Championship."
The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Chapman picked the Tigers over offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He also held a grayshirt offer from Alabama.
"I was kinda leaning to Alabama early on," said Chapman. "Alabama offered me a grayshirt and Auburn offered me a full ride right off the bat. I've worked too hard to accept a grayshirt. But I chose Auburn because it was a better fit for me anyway."
