Verbally committed Chris Culliver of Garner, N.C., is apparently verbally committed no more.

After wavering on his N.C. State pledge for much of the summer, the 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back said Monday night he spoke at length about his commitment to State earlier in the day.

"I called coach (Todd) Stroud today. I told him I was de-committing," Culliver told Tigerillustrated.com. "I told him I wasn't just de-committing to de-commit. I told him I was doing it because I need some time."

After turning in an impressive performance at the Clemson - Nike Camp in May, Culliver walked away with more attention from college coaches, which quickly translated into more offers, and later a hefty four-star rating from Rivals.com.
