Utes lead for 4-star DT
The Utes have traditionally done very well recruiting the Hawaiian islands, and most years have been able to depend on the island state for at least a couple commits. Last year saw the highest ranked prospect of the Utah class, Joseph Faifili out of Kahuku committing to Utah. This year the Utes once again have returned to the Hawaiian powerhouse to find the next great Ute defensive lineman.
Utah has been a friendly place for players of Polynesian descent ever since former coach Ron McBride looked towards the islands back in the early 90's. With Kyle Whittingham taking over the program, the Utes have again placed an emphasis on recruiting the islands with the hiring of inside linebackers coach Kalani Sitake.
Rivals250 and four-star recruit Kaniela Tuipulotu, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle out of Kahuku has an offer in hand from the Utes and definitely fits the mold of the type of lineman coach Gary Andersen wants.
