Hoosiers in hot pursuit of Ohio's Mabin
It's hard enough to gain a college football scholarship at one position, let alone two, but that's what Ohio native Jordan Mabin has done. The 5-foot-11, 185 pound senior-to-be has five scholarship offers already from Indiana, Pittsburgh, Akron, Kent State, and Marshall and is getting considerable attention from the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and others as well. Some schools say that he could be a great college running back. Others like him at cornerback. The only thing they all have in common is they believe he is definitely a top-tier college football player.
"I played mostly running back last season, but I did play both ways a little," said Mabin, who has rushed for 4,346 yards and 61 touchdowns during his three years as a starter at Macedonia High School. "I played some cornerback and free safety a little and had three interceptions last season.
"Coach and I have talked about it and I will definitely be playing more defense this year. I am still going to be the running back, but I will get more action on defense. A lot of colleges are looking at me as a defensive back so I want to show them what I have there, but at the same time a lot of schools are recruiting me as a running back, too, so I am going to keep doing what I do there. I like both spots so it's good for me."
