Hawkeyes land a big one
The Iowa Hawkeyes landed a big one today, as Illinois offensive line prospect Bryan Bulaga gave his verbal commitment on a visit to Iowa City. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Bulaga gave the news to head coach Kirk Ferentz in a meeting this morning.
Bulaga, who has long held the Hawkeyes as his favorite, chose Iowa among his 12 scholarship offers from schools throughout the Midwest. As a junior, the future Hawkeye played tight end and defensive end at Marian Central Catholic. On the season, he caught 11 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown, along with racking up 90 tackles, including 16 for a loss, on the defensive side of the ball.
Bulaga is the fifth verbal commitment for Iowa in the 2007 recruiting class and the first from outside of the Hawkeye State. The offensive line prospect joins in-state commitments Colin Sandeman, Cody Hundertmark, Tyler Nielsen, and last year's grayshirt recruit, Julian Vandervelde.
