Good as Golden
Hendersonville, Tenn., Pope John Paul II athlete Golden Tate knows how to do a little bit of everything.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound pre-evaluation Rivals100 selection has been asked to fulfill many roles during his young athletic career. Last year, Tate lined up as a running back, wide receiver, defensive back, and a punt returner.
He tallied 2,191 yards rushing for 26 touchdowns, 1,648 yards receiving with 21 touchdown catches in addition to 10 interceptions.
Tate's athletic versatility translates beyond the gridiron. In a baseball game earlier this month, Tate led Pope John Paul II to a win by hitting a three-run home run as well as throwing two scoreless innings as a reliever.
"Baseball's going pretty well so far," Tate said. "The team is struggling a little, but we're still working hard and I'm having a pretty good season."
