Notebook: Friday Night Lights
Texas Tech is now two-for-two in fan relation activities this spring.
After making the public debut in Midland last week, the Red Raider football program opened up Jones AT&T Stadium for the local fans to catch their first glimpse of the program under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury. The Lubbock fans showed up about 5,800 strong on the west side of the stadium to create about half the crowd you would expect for a late round high school playoff game inside a major football stadium.
Fittingly, the spring practice No. 11 was called "Friday Night Lights."
"Not bad. A lot of energy," Kingsbury said after the intra-squad scrimmage that constituted the 11th practice of spring. "I thought the offense started really slow and the defense was getting after them and then after a break it kind of switched. So that was good to see both sides kind of exchange punches."
