OT, Joey Bloomfield has his eyes on Army
At 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, offensive tackle Joey Bloomfield, is hard to miss even amongst other offensive lineman and that is quite evident from the eight offers the Louisville (Ky.) Ballard High School prospect has accumulated thus far.
"Yes, I have several offers and Army is talking to me as well," shared Bloomfield, who is a two-way player, where he also plays nose guard at Ballard.
Bloomfield continues to make a name for himself this summer, as he has been hitting the camp and combine circuit. One stop for the big man was the Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) in Memphis (Tenn.).
"That was great and I was voted as one of the top big men on Rivals.com at the Nike NFTC down there. That's the main camp I went to, but the others are in process."
Although Bloomfield has yet to be offered by the Black Knights of Army, the 3.6 GPA student athlete, who also scored a 25 on ACT, has been in constant conversation with the coaching staff.
"I spoke to Coach Coaxum of Army and we mostly talked about the application process at West Point and who it works there," adds Bloomfield.
"I know it's a little bit different than most other schools, where it's a little more in-depth. I'm very interested in Army and it is definitely a really big opportunity ... and I think I need to explore all my options."
"I know that West Point is one of the best schools in the world and possibilities are endless once you graduate. Army is also a highly competitive football program."
Bloomfield made it clear that there is a peaking order on his list of what it may take a school to get his attention and eventually his pledge to attend.
"I'm looking ... well, first it's academics, then a highly competitive athletic program, and coaches that I work well with," says Bloomfield, who says playing on the East Coast is absolutely an option.
"I think there are great opportunities on the East Coast and I am very open to that," he concludes.
