2013 QB has BC connection
Win Homer isn't the only prospect from Christchurch (Va.) that the Eagles have been recruiting in recent months. Boston College has also been keeping a close eye on the school's starting quarterback.
That quarterback is Alex Girvan, a 6-foot-3, 218-pound pro-style passer.
Girvan, a junior, didn't put the ball in the air much this year and he tossed five touchdowns against four interceptions. While those numbers aren't gaudy he believes he has the tools to be successful in a number of different offensive systems.
"I feel like I could fit into most offensive schemes," Girvan explained. "I'm a traditional pro-style quarterback so I like to drop back and throw the ball. If you watch my highlight tape I can also run the ball. I might not be as fast as some guy that's going to Oregon but I can run.
"I feel like I can adapt well. Athletically I'm open to anything. I can run the spread or a pro-style (offense)."
Girvan doesn't have any offers yet but Boston College invited him to their junior day scheduled for January 28 and Girvan has already sent his RSVP in.
"One of my offensive linemen (Homer) committed to Boston College over the summer so I've had a lot of contact with them. Coach Siravo has been down here a lot and I've talked to him," Girvan continued.
"I've been talking to them through e-mail and then I got an invite. I've talked to Siravo a lot. They seem pretty interested so I've decided to go up there."
Girvan said the BC coaches have seen his highlight tape as well as full game film.
"I know it's a really good academic school," he said of BC. "Obviously playing in the ACC would be amazing. It's definitely a really good school. I want to go up and see what it's like. I want to see what the campus is like.
"I want to major in business and minor in Chinese so that's something that will be important, too. I'm sure they'll be able to explain everything when I visit."
NC State, Duke and Temple are three other schools showing the most interest.
