Last chances for Lawrence

Five years can fly by.

Just ask Mississippi State senior Addison Lawrence.

Five years ago Lawrence was entering his first season in Starkville from the Mississippi academy ranks where he played tight end. But for the past three seasons he has anchored the Bulldogs offensive line at right tackle.

"It really is crazy (that five years have gone by)," Lawrence said. "We've got three, hopefully four, more games left. It's kind of getting bittersweet and I'm getting into that mode where I've got to turn it on so I can try to finish strong."

Lawrence arrived at MSU as a two-star tight end prospect out of Magnolia Heights never anticipating five years later to be making his 40th consecutive start at right tackle.

"At that time I don't think I'd have believed that," Lawrence said. "It's crazy to see how far I've come and I'm really proud of that. Hopefully I can continue to do what I've been doing."

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder is one of two senior starters on the line along with right guard Quentin Saulsberry. Saulsberry is more of the vocal leader of the line while Lawrence just tries to let his play make the example.
