Last week NC State special teams and recruiting coordinator Jerry Petercuskie made a stop at Holy Spirit High in Absecon, N.J., to see linebacker Dan Mastromatteo.

Mastromatteo, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, reportedly runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He had 90 tackles, including 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and interception as a junior. He returned both the fumble recovery and pick for scores. Mastromatteo also shined in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 3 state title game, making 11 tackles and helping Holy Spirit to victory.
