Caleb Smith first made contact with Idaho because his Kent (Wash.) Kentridge teammate Cameron McKernan signed with the Vandals in the 2011 recruiting class. After the coaching staff talked to Smith and reviewed his film, they decided to offer and it's the first one for the 6-foot-7, 240-pound tight end.
