Rudock ready to sign
Quarterback Jake Rudock is ready to make it official and sign with the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Rudock says he never really waivered on his decision because of the loyalty the Iowa coaching staff showed him throughout the recruiting process. He talks about his signing day plans and much more.
Q: What do you think signing day is going to be like for you tomorrow?
RUDOCK: It's really an exciting thing to put it into writing and know exactly where you're going the next couple of years. At our school, we have a ceremony where all the athletes put on their ties and go through everything together, so that makes it special. I've been looking forward to this since I was a freshman really, just thinking that maybe one day hopefully I'll be able to do the same thing that they're doing.
Q: Does going through the whole thing with your teammates make it extra special after all of the things you guys have accomplished the last couple years?
RUDOCK: Yeah, without a doubt. We've been together for so long, we're just like family. Being able to share the day with them is a great thing because we're all close friends.
Q: For you, what's it going to be like finally making it official with Iowa?
RUDOCK: It's going to be great because I know I made a great decision. Knowing that all the coaches up there really wanted me to come to their school and be a part of a winning tradition and a program that's just at the top of its game.
As a senior, Rudock completed 160 of 231 pass attempts (69.3%) for 2,784 yards and 36 touchdowns with only three interceptions. The quarterback led St. Thomas Aquinas to an undefeated state championship season and No. 1 ranking in several national polls. In June, Rudock committed to Iowa over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, Memphis, and Minnesota.
