BulldogBlitz.com STARKVILLE, Miss., - It may not have been pretty at times but Mississippi State found a way Monday night to keep its undefeated winning streak alive with a 82-76 victory over Detroit.
The Bulldogs were able to pull away late, surviving yet another scare to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
"Nothing comes easy for us it's very obvious," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "We've just founds ways to get a 'W'. That was a different kind of team tonight than we played Friday night. They were a big, strong team."
MSU shot 46.3-percent from the floor and also knocked down 10 3-pointers in the contest.
The Bulldogs were again led by Ravern Johnson with 25 points. Johnson shot 10-of-15 on the night including 3-of-6 behind the arc.
"We started off a little slow," Johnson said. "I saw they were playing physical with me and we couldn't get into our sets so I did what I had to do to get points for the team."
State also got a career-high 13 points from Riley Benock. Benock shot 5-of-9 for the game and was also 3-of-6 from downtown, also both career highs.
