Big win is another building block
In the ninth chapter of the book of Luke, the forty-eighth verse, Jesus is quoted as saying the following, "for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great."
On Saturday, the school with the least enrollment in Division 1 football reached a level of greatness in its own history. Tulsa 28, Notre Dame 27 may not be among the BCS shattering events of the season, but it did elevate the Hurricane's profile among its fellow football playing schools, potential recruits, and Conference USA.
Lest you perceive this statement as "just an excited utterance from amongst fandom", here is a little perspective.
Notre Dame is not up to the lofty level it has been in the past. The program is struggling under a first year coach installing his system. Though the players are certainly above average in innate intelligence, the roster may not be perfectly tailored for the new system. Tulsa did, however, beat a roster stocked with players of the caliber the Irish program can recruit and sign.
