Phillips Likes the Truth in Norman
It's probably not news to anyone that the speed of the game at a Big 12 battle is a considerable step up from that of Towanda (Kan.) Circle's Friday night battles. What is newsworthy is when Circle's star player, and Sooner commitment Jordan Phillips admits that spending time in the Oklahoma locker room in pre-game was such a massive step up in attitude.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound four-star defensive tackle took his second trip of the season to Norman, this time for his allotted official visit. And while breaking down the many elements of the trip, he said the team's intensity prior to the game was what was most noteworthy to him.
"We got in early on Saturday morning and went to talk to coach (Bob) Stoops and spoke with him for a little bit and then just got ready for the game," Phillips recalled. "We watched a motivational video and went through to see how they prepared for the game and got to see the environment after the game.
"It's just completely different than what I'm used to, the players are just really hyped and ready to go, it's just a different mindset. Even the coaches are really intense."
